Nameranked
Privacy policy
Effective 11 October 2026.
Nameranked is a service of Inherent, Inc., 1 Embarcadero Center, Suite 1200, San Francisco, CA 94111 ("Inherent", "we"). This policy says what we collect when you use this site, the free AI visibility check at my.nameranked.com and the monthly report, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it. The same policy covers Firmranked (firmranked.com), which runs on the same system.
What we collect
What you give us. When you request the free check or subscribe to the report you give us your name, the name of your business, your email address, your website address, your city and the services you want to be found for. A phone number is optional. When you reply to a report to approve work, we keep the reply.
What we read from your website. To produce the check and the report we read the public pages of your website the way a search engine does, and record what we find: titles, headings, links, page speed, structured data and similar. This is information you have already published.
What the AI tools and search engines say. We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude the questions a customer would ask about services in your city, and look up where your site and others rank in Google for those searches. We keep the answers so each month's report can show the change.
Google Search Console, only if you connect it. If you choose to connect Search Console, we receive read-only access to the clicks, impressions and search terms Google reports for your site. We use nothing else from your Google account, and you can revoke the access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What our servers record. Like every website, our servers keep standard access logs: the address your request came from, the page requested, the time, and your browser's description of itself. We keep them for routine security and troubleshooting and look at them only when something needs investigating.
Cookies. This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. WordPress sets a cookie only when you log in, which visitors never do. The check form carries a signed, time-limited token to stop automated submissions; it holds nothing about you.
Why we use it
- To run the free check and email you the result.
- To produce and send the monthly report, and to keep each month's results so the report can show what changed.
- To price the three pieces of work in each report, and to do the work when you approve it.
- To answer you when you write to us, and to keep a record of your request in our own client tracking system so we know who asked for what.
- To keep the service secure and working.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it to build profiles for anyone else. We do not send marketing email to the address you gave for a check beyond the check itself and, if you asked for one, the report; every email we send has a way to stop them.
Who else handles it
Producing the report means sending some information to companies that work for us. Each gets only what its task needs:
- AI assistants. OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), Perplexity and Anthropic (Claude) receive the questions we ask about services in your city, and sometimes your website address so they can describe your site. They do not receive your name, email address or phone number.
- Search data. A search results provider (SerpApi or Serper) receives the search terms we rank you for. Google's PageSpeed Insights receives your website address to measure speed.
- Hosting. Our servers run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Everything we hold about you is stored there.
- Fonts. This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google's servers see the address your browser makes that request from.
- Email. Report and check emails go out from our own mail servers.
- Payments. Subscriptions are paid through Stripe, which collects and stores your card details; we never see your card number. The Stripe account belongs to Kamys.com, Inherent's parent company, so that name may appear on your card statement alongside the report's. Stripe keeps your name, email address, billing address and payment history for as long as the law on payments requires, under its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Each of these handles the information under its own terms, as a processor for us or, in the AI tools' case, as the provider of a service we query. We do not transfer your information to anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Check requests and the results we emailed are kept for twelve months so we can answer questions about them, then deleted. If you subscribe, we keep your details and each month's results for as long as you subscribe and for twelve months after, so a report can be reproduced if you ask; then they are deleted. Replies that approve work are kept with our business records for as long as the law on contracts requires. You can ask us to delete anything sooner, and we will, except what we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
- Every report email has a link to a preferences page where you can change your city, services and email address, or stop the reports, with no login.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to reports@nameranked.com. We answer within thirty days and do not charge for it.
- If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights above, the right to know the categories of information we collect and why (this page), and the right not to be treated differently for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as the Act defines those terms.
- If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Inherent, Inc. is the controller of this information. We process it to perform the service you asked for and, for the logs and security measures, in our legitimate interest in running the service safely. You have the rights above, plus the right to object, to restrict processing, to take your information with you, and to complain to your data protection authority. Your information is stored in the United States, under the safeguards described above.
Security
The sites are served over https only. Access to the systems that hold your information is limited to the people at Inherent who produce the reports. Links in report emails are signed and expire. No system is perfectly secure, and if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.
Children
The service is for businesses and the people who run them. It is not meant for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the next report email and update the date at the top. Earlier versions are available on request.
